INDULGE YOUR LOCAL WANDERLUST AT WALDEN

It’s so easy to get ingrained in our immediate surroundings and the places we love, that we forget there are many great places and communities out there to explore. This weekend, we challenge you to get out of your well-worn Calgary tracks and discover a new community.

The southeast community of Walden, by Genstar, is hosting their showhome event, Wanderlust, this Saturday, April 27, 12-5 p.m. at 8 Walcrest View SE & 333 Walgrove Terrace SE.

Our Wanderlust event is the perfect way to inspire your inner local tourist: see brand new homes, dig into some street food, fun activities for kids, outdoor adventure opportunities, and maybe even win an overnight Nordic Spa date for two at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge.

SEE HOW THE LOCALS LIVE

Big attractions are great, but the best travel experiences are when you feel like you’re getting a “local” experience and, as we all know, every Calgary neighbourhood has its own unique character.

Walden has a special small-town feel, like a village within our big city, with its own trail network, parks, playground, and shops.

Even better – you can visit Walden’s showhomes and really get a sense of what it’s like to live there. Check out new homes of all shapes and sizes, including townhomes, condos, duplexes, and semi- estate homes. Walden showhomes are built by renowned builders like Excel Homes, Homes by Avi, Cardel Homes, Prominent Homes, Baywest Homes, Daytona Homes, California Homes, and Arcuri Homes.

Whether you’re in the market for a new house or not, it’s fun to see what’s out there and get inspired by design, inside and out. You might be surprised by how affordable buying new can be.

EAT LIKE A LOCAL

No adventure is complete without a culinary experience. Perennial food trucks, Avatara Pizza and Kurry Up, will be feeding attendees. After you tour the showhomes, pick up a food ticket and head on over to get Calgary’s most unique pizza or best East Indian food. If the weather cooperates, you can picnic by Walden’s pond.

If you’re coming on the later side, you can grab a bite and a pint at the local pub, Windsor Rose.

WALK, BIKE, FISH

Pack your sneakers, bike, and/or fishing rod. Walden has more than three kilometres of walking trails within the community, and it’s connected to the regional trail network that leads to Fish Creek Park. Or walk over the Bow River and throw in a line.

Every city dweller needs a little nature – this is a great place to get it.

TRAVEL FURTHER AFIELD

Walden is awesome not only for all that’s within, but also for its great access to other favourite destinations. Spruce Meadows and Granary Road are close by. The 22x will take you straight to the mountains if you need an escape.

In fact, speaking of mountains, at our Wanderlust event, you can enter to win a Nordic Spa weekend for two at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge at any of the showhomes.

You can find out more about Wanderlust on Facebook here. See you Saturday!
